QUESTION: (personal or family):

  • What is one way you hope to encounter Jesus this Christmas season?
  • What is one gift your friends or co-workers would want that is not on object or gadget or experience?

PRAYER:

Light of life, you came in flesh,
born into human pain and joy,
and gave us power to be your children.
Grant us faith, O Christ, to see your presence among us,
so that all of creation may sing new songs of gladness
and walk in the way of peace.

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 9:2-7; Psalm 96; Titus 2:11-14; Luke 2:1-14-20 (read here)

  • what's one part of this scripture that you will think about this Christmas or week?
  • who can you pray for right now or commit to praying for this week?

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus,
Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.
We who have so much to do seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you we say, ‘Come Lord Jesus!’
Amen.
