Eastertide: Life in the Wake of the Resurrection

See weekly scripture reading below

EASTERTIDE is the post-resurrection season that helps us learn and live from the fullness of the resurrected Jesus, the arrival of the Spirit, and the emergence of the church. This season was incorporated into the discipleship calendar (known as the church year in the lectionary*) of the church after Easter.

This 50 day period is based on Jesus revealing himself, resurrected, for 40 days. After Jesus’ ascension he told his disciples to wait for 10 days until God would pour out his Spirit on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2).

While Lent is often characterized as a season of fasting, Eastertide is characterized as a season of feasting! The core of the Christian faith and what it means to be the church flows out of resurrection of Jesus.

We want to make room for the truth and power of the resurrection to carry us beyond a date on the calendar in order to  nurture our life, faith, community, and sense of mission!
